"How to design great ads for Google Adsense?" In my understanding, good answer of this question is high click through rate (CTR) (> 3%), thus providing a high income too.
Because I have not been successful in Google Adsense, then for the answer, I quoted tips from Daniel Scocco (one of my favorite bloggers). Coincidentally, when I read RSS feeds Problogger a few days ago, I found a guest article that discusses nine tips from Daniel to earn $ 3,000 from Google Adsense for 1 month.
Basically, the design content for adsense ads consist of size, color, and position:
1. Size
Daniel recommends that the size of 336 × 280 large rectangle, 300 × 250 rectangle, 120 × 600 large skyscraper or the 728 × 90 leaderboard are the best sizes that produces a good CTR. Among those sizes, the best size is of 336 × 280.
2. Color
Color consists of the title color, text, URL and adsense background. According to Daniel, there is no fixed rule for these categories. He even suggested an experiment with several colors and evaluate the results.
3. Position
Adsense ads are generally placed in the body of writing (early, middle, and end), sidebar, header, footer, or outside the blog. From these positions, which one that gives high income? According to Daniel, it is best to position under the post title.
So, according to Daniel, ads design that provides a good income is the size of 336 × 228 and put under the title of your post. The color is relative, depending on the experimental results respectively.
